For insurance purposes, all invited guests must have a Boeing employee or BEAC member sponsor present at the event.
Children must be supervised at all times.
Pets (not recommended, since cars are moving around a lot) must be kept on a leash at all times and owners must clean up after them.
No alcohol, drugs or smoking (including vaping) allowed anywhere on airport property.
No parking off of the pavement as there is a lot of dry grass.
There are two sessions per practice day. All times are approximate.
For the morning session:
7:30 am - Gates open at Sanderson Field near Shelton (see here for directions at the bottom of the Home page). Plan ahead as Shelton is about an hour and a half drive from Seattle!
8:30 am - Gates close and lock. After signing in, help set-up the course, get yourself and your car ready, and walk the course.
9:45 am - Driver's meeting.
10:00 am - Time to race!
12:00 pm - Break for lunch.
For the afternoon session:
12:00 pm - Gates open for the afternoon session.
12:45 am - Gates close and lock.
1:00 pm - Driver's meeting.
1:15 pm - Time to race!
3:30 pm - End of afternoon session.
All participants in the morning session are expected to help with setting out cones and preparing the course for the day.
All participants at the afternoon session are expected to help with tear down, which involves collecting the cones and putting away our equipment. This usually only takes an hour or so.
Before you come to practice:
Make sure your tires are at maximum recommended pressure.
Make sure the oil level is full.
Bring a bag or container to hold all loose items from the interior, which you need to remove while you drive.
If you have a helmet, bring it and we’ll check if it meets the following requirements:
Your helmet must be compliant with the 2010, 2015, or 2020 Snell Foundation standards (SA, K, or M), or SFI standards 31.1A, 31.2A, 41.1A, or 41.2A. Helmets meeting British spec BS6658-85 type A/FR are also acceptable.
Your helmet must have the manufacture certification tag to be acceptable.
Keep in mind that almost any car can be used for autocross, not just sports cars. However, as a general rule a vehicle must be “wider than it is tall”. SUVs and Trucks will need to be approved for exceptions.
If you want to record video from inside the car, it has to be mounted, not handheld.
The day of the event:
All attendees, driving or not, will sign a waiver when they enter the site.
We’ll do a tech inspection of your car on-site to make sure it’s safe.
Battery terminals need to be covered
Loose items need to be removed
Helmets - You need one to drive/ride along and there are loaner helmets and head socks available
Wheels - Checked for safety
All drivers at the morning session will help set up the course (so we have more time to drive!).
All drivers walk the course beforehand (so you know where to go!).
BEAC members will be available to help you understand the course and give driving tips.
The group will be divided up so that one group drives while the other group watches for downed cones and course mistakes, then the groups swap.
